The gentle grade of the Argentine Central Railway ascends through pine, evergreen and aspen forests as it passes old mine chutes and fine stone walls in parts. The train that chugged up this mountain for 12 short years hauled freight for the mining operations as well as tourists. At the top of Pavilion Point we will come to the site of a once bustling dance hall of which only the chimney remains. Amazing views are to be had on 3 sides of this ridge which splits the Guanella Pass and Silver Plume corridor.
