How Do I prepare for the trip?

Having fun and being safe outdoors is always our goal.  Please keep in mind the need to be flexible as trail, weather, and human conditions change.

Upon booking your tour, we will send you a confirmation and make an arrangement to meet you. Our meeting place is in front of The Georgetown Gateway Visitors Center. 1491 Argentine St. Georgetown, CO 80444. This right off the I-70 Exit and has restrooms available. You will then follow me to the trailhead in your own car.

  • Winter Snowshoe trips please wear your snow boots or waterproof hiking boots with wool or ski socks. Gaiters if you have them some ski pants have them built in.
  • Winter Snowshoe trips dress in warmer layers like you would to go skiing, so that you are warm when standing around and can shed layers when you warm up. Base layer next to skin (long johns, synthetic or wool). Mid layers that insulate (sweaters, or fleece coat and pants).  And, warm outer layers that can block wind or shed snow. (ski coat, down puffy, or shell jacket and pants). Layers can be tied around your waist if you get hot. Or, an extra piece of clothing can always get stashed in your pack. Please call and ask if you have any ?
  • We are at altitude so please make sure you are well rested, fed, and hydrated.
  • Bring a water bottle. I will provide a snack.  Let me know if you have any food allergies.
  • Wear sunscreen
  • Wear layers that can be added or taken off as it gets warm or cold. Bring a rain jacket.
  • Wear a Hat, gloves, and sunglasses.
  • Wear shoes or boots that fit well and are appropriate for hiking on trails.
  • A daypack or something that you can carry your belongings in.

Additional Information

My certifications include Wilderness First Aid, CPR, and AED.

A first aid kit is always carried on the tours.

There is cell service on the trails and I carry an IPhone on every trip in case of emergency

Local emergency response is available within 2 - 3 miles of the trailheads.
